Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (1,300m) – Zhangmu Border (115 km, 6 hrs) – Nyalam (3,750m, 30 km)
Scenic drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal–Tibet border. Complete immigration formalities and continue to Nyalam.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Nyalam – Tingri (4,300m) – Shigatse (3,900m, 390 km)
Drive across the Tibetan plateau, crossing Gyatchu La Pass (5,220m), before arriving in Shigatse.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Shigatse – Lhasa via Gyantse (3,650m, 260 km)
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, then drive to Gyantse to see Kumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery. Cross Karola (5,010m) and Kambala (4,749m) passes, passing Yamdrok-Tso Lake, before reaching Lhasa.
Overnight at Hotel Yak or similar.

Day 04–05: Sightseeing in Lhasa (3,650m)
Explore Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Drepung Monastery, and Sera Monastery over two full days.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 06: Lhasa – Xegar/Tingri (4,200m, 494 km)
Drive to Tingri.
Overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Xegar – Nyalam (3,500m)
Scenic return drive to Nyalam.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Nyalam/Zhangmu Border – Kathmandu (395 km)
Drive to the border, complete formalities, and return to Kathmandu.
End of tour services.

Required Documents for Tibet Visa

  1. Passport Copy – Submit at least 20 days in advance.

  2. Original Passport – Required upon arrival in Kathmandu.

  3. Passport Size Photo – White background, front-facing, no glasses, no smile.

  4. Visa Application Form – Completed before arrival.

Note: Tibet group visa requires a minimum of 4 travelers. Processing takes 3–4 official working days (Monday–Friday). Regulations can change frequently; confirm with Mountain Mate Trek before booking.
