In the evening, enjoy an informal dinner followed by a brief orientation session introducing the art event, its objectives, and an overview of the Gokyo Valley route. This session helps participants understand how trekking, creativity, and cultural exchange will unfold during the journey.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding: Early in the morning, transfer to the airport for a scenic flight to Lukla (approximately 30 minutes), offering the first dramatic views of the Himalayas. Upon landing in Lukla, the trek officially begins. The trail descends gently through forests, suspension bridges, and traditional Sherpa villages to reach Phakding. This short and easy trek allows time for acclimatization. In the evening, settle into a local teahouse and participate in a group discussion focused on initial artistic impressions inspired by the landscapes and cultural encounters of the day.

  • Day 03: Phakding – Namche Bazaar: After breakfast, continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through pine forests and small Sherpa settlements. The trail gradually ascends to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant gateway to the Khumbu region. Upon arrival, explore the town, visit local markets, cafés, and viewpoints, and experience the lively Sherpa culture. In the evening, attend a workshop on “Art and Nature,” discussing techniques and approaches to capturing mountain environments through painting, sketching, and photography.

  • Day 04: Namche Bazaar – Dole:The trek continues uphill through beautiful rhododendron forests, yak herders’ camps, and high-altitude terrain. As the trail gains elevation, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with expansive views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, participants are encouraged to pause along the route to set up outdoor art stations, drawing inspiration from the flora, fauna, and vast landscapes. The evening features a group critique session where participants share their work, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback.

  • Day 05: Dole – Machhermo: Today’s trek leads toward Machhermo through open alpine landscapes with impressive views of Cho Oyu and neighboring peaks. The trail offers a sense of isolation and serenity, ideal for artistic reflection. In the afternoon, engage in plein-air painting or photography, absorbing the raw beauty of the high Himalayas. In the evening, enjoy a special presentation by a guest speaker or local artist on Himalayan art and culture, followed by a discussion on the role of creativity in preserving mountain traditions.

The evening gathering allows participants to share experiences, reflect on how the environment has influenced their work, and discuss their creative journey so far.

  • Day 07: Gokyo Valley – Return to Lukla:The morning is free for continued artistic exploration around the lakes and nearby viewpoints.
