 About Trip

Gosainkunda Frozen Lake, nestled in Nepal's Langtang National Park at an altitude of 4,360 meters, is a pristine freshwater lake. The massive rock at the center of the lake is believed to be the remnants of a Shiva shrine. According to Hindu belief, Lord Shiva formed Gosaikunda Lake by piercing a mountain with his Trishul (holy Trident) to extract water, soothing his throat from the heat of swallowed poison.

The trek begins with a long, steady ascent to Chandan Bari, situated at roughly 3,200 meters (10,500 feet). By the second day, trekkers can reach Laurebinayak, which lies at about 3,700 meters (12,100 feet). While some may continue the climb to Gosaikunda, caution is advised due to the risk of mountain sickness from the steep rise. Many opt to stay at Laurebinayak, which offers captivating views of the sunset and sunrise over Langtang and Ganesh Himal.
