 About Trip

The hike to Gosaikunda is a stunning trek to one of Nepal's most sacred frozen lakes, situated at 4,360 meters in Langtang National Park. This glittering alpine lake is Hindu legend, being created by Lord Shiva, who pierced a mountain with his Trishul (sacred trident) to chill his throat after consuming a lethal dose of poison. The sacred rock in the lake's center is a heavenly reminder of Shiva's temple, and thus the trek turns out not just to be a spiritual pilgrimage but also a Himalayan trek.

The trek is done amidst panoramic views, having wide-angle vistas of the Langtang and Ganesh Himalayan ranges, crossing typical mountain villages, dense forests, terrace fields, and alpine meadows. The trek begins with a moderate ascent to Chandan Bari (3,200m), winding through serene forests and undulating farmland. The second objective is Laurebinayak (3,700m), a picturesque rest camp with sunrise and sunset over snow-capped peaks. Trekkers next come to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, gazing in awe at its icy waters and unspoilt natural beauty, acclimatizing high.

Along the way, trekkers have the opportunity to meet local communities, sample true Nepalese mountain culture, and see distinctive flora and fauna of the Langtang area. This trek combines adventure, spirituality, and nature in an ideal way, offering a memorable Himalayan experience. The trail is ideal for spiritual travelers, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts seeking less-touristed and richly cultural trekking routes in Nepal.

The Gosaikunda Trek is not just a hike through breathtaking alpine landscape, but also a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture, see breathtaking Himalayan sunrises and sunsets, and visit holy high-altitude lakes—a veritable reward in the heart of Nepal.
