We visit the ancient Durbar squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.   • Kathmandu Durbar Square :The Durbar Square of Kathmandu is in the old city and has heritage buildings representing four kingdoms (Kantipur, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kirtipur); the earliest being the Licchavi dynasty. The complex has 50 temples and is distributed in two quadrangles of the Durbar Square. The outer quadrangle has the Kasthamandap, Kumari Ghar and Shiva-Parvati Temple; the inner quadrangle has the hanuman Dhoka palace.
    The Durbar Square of Kathmandu is located in the old city and is home to over 50 temples. we will observe the following important in our programme.

  • Pashupatinath Temple: Pashupatinath Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. It served as the seat of national deity, Lord Pashupatinath, until Nepal was secularized. However, a significant part of the temple was destroyed by Mughal invaders in the 14th century and little or nothing remains of the original 5th-century temple exterior. The temple as it stands today was built in the 19th century, although the image of the bull and the black four-headed image of Pashupati are at least 300 years old. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site.Shivaratri or the night of Lord Shiva, is the most important festival that takes place here, attracting thousands of devotees and sadhus.
     
  • Boudhanath stupa: It is a very popular tourist site. Boudhanath is known as Khasti by Newars and as Bauddha or Bodhnath by speakers of  Nepali. About 11 km (7 mi) from the centre and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal.Boudhanath became a UNESCO world heritage sites in 1979
     The base of the stupa has 108 small depictions of the Dhyani Buddha Amitabh. It is surrounded with a brick wall with 147 niches, each with four or five prayers wheels engraved with the mantra, om  mani padme hum.At the northerentrance where visitors must pass is a shrine dedicated to Ajima, the goddess of smallpox.
     
  • Swayambunath Temple:Swayambhunath  is a Buddhist stupa atop a hillock at the northwestern part of the city. This is among the oldest religious sites in Nepal. Although the site is considered Buddhist, it is revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. The stupa consists of a dome at the base; above the dome, there is a cubic structure with the eyes of Buddha looking in all four directions.There are pentagonal toran above each of the four sides, with statues engraved on them. Behind and above the torana there are thirteen tiers. Above all the tiers, there is a small space above which lies a gajur.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival to kathmandu (1400m)
    Day 01: Arrival to kathmandu (1400m).  You will be welcomed by our staff standing with your name-card in the airport arrival terminal and transferred to your hotel by the private vehicle. There will be a dinner program in one of the Nepalese restaurants with typical Nepalese cuisine. There will be a small meeting about the trip in the evening.  
     
  • Day 02: Valley sightseeing Programme, 6-7 hours
    Today after breakfast you will start a guided to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' Swayambhunath and Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. Along with it you will visit the miedeval palaces of Kathmandu , these palaces are rich in stone and wood sculptures glorifying the rich artistic history of ancient Nepal. 
    Kathmandu Durbar square: Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the largest city in the country. It has a rich, nearly 2000 years old, history. Durbar Square translates into English as "Court Square".

    Swayambunath Temple: The famous stupa known as Swayambhunath Temple, and more recently referred to as  the Monkey Temple with troops of the furry creatures running amok, is over 2500 years old, brims with Buddhist and Hindu iconography and offers a bird’s eye view of the city. An icon in Nepal it features a stark white dome topped with a golden spire. The painted eyes on four sides represent the all-seeing eyes of Buddha that are all-seeing and all-knowin. Representing Buddha’s mind, to visit the stupa is said to be the same as meeting Buddha in person. A place offering peace, freedom and joy to the whole world and ultimately helping us to obtain perfect enlightenment. Other attractions in the area include the gold plated Vajra ‘thunderbolt’ set in the east side of the stupa, the Buddha statue on the west side of Swayambhu, the Sleeping Buddha and the Dewa Dharma Monastery displaying a bronze icon of Buddha and traditional Tibetan paintings.

    Pashupatinath Temple:  One of the most sacred Hindu temples of Nepal – Pashupatinath Temple is located on both banks of Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is the most important temple dedicated to god Shiva. Every year this temple attracts hundreds of elderly followers of Hinduism. They arrive here to find shelter for the last several weeks of their lives, to meet death, be cremated on the banks of the river and travel their last journey with the waters of the sacred river Bagmati, which later meets the holy river Ganges. Hinduists from every corner of Nepal and India are arriving here to die.It is believed that those who die in Pashupatinath Temple are reborn as a human, regardless of any misconduct that could worsen their karma. The exact day of their death is predicted by astrologers of the temple. If you are attracted to the places where the spirit of death can be felt, then consider Pashupatinath as your first destination. It is a temple with special atmosphere of death; death is present in almost every ritual and every corner of it. 

    Boudhanath Temple: Boudhanath Stupa Tour in Nepal is the most famouse Buddhist Stupa located in Kathmandu. It is located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. In 1979 AD, Boudhanath stupa tour was enlisted in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Boudhanath stupa tour is one of the most popular and spectacular site tours in Kathmandu Nepal. The height of Boudhanath stupa is 36 meters (118 ft). It is mostly affiliated by Buddhism and Hinduism. There are more than 45 Buddhist monasteries in this area. Bouddhanath Stupa Tour Nepal is one of the holiest and largest Buddhist stupas in the world. It is believed to have been constructed in around the 5th century. The current stupa structure was built after the depredation of Mughal invaders in the 14th century. The structure of the Boudhanath stupa consists of a giant dome, on the top sits a Buddhist pyramid tower. All of this sits on top of huge steps shaped like mandalas themselves. At the bottom, the stupa is surrounded by an irregular 16 sided wall. The base of the stupa consists of 3 large platforms, in size or decreasing order. Bouddhanath stupa is topped with a square tower with the omnipresent Buddha eyes on all four sides and instead of a nose is question mark which is also Nepali character for 1. It symbolizes unity and the one way to reach enlightenment through the Buddha's teaching. The prayer flags are tied all around the stupa which carries mantras and prayers into the universe. The flags come in a set of five colors which represents the five pure lights. Monks,   worshipers, locals including tourists make a round of the Boudhanath stupa tour clockwise while praying and chanting .
     
  • Day03: Departure/ farewell
